do machal volunteers get a chafshash?

Postby LivingTruth » Sat Oct 22, 2011 6:24 pm

i've started in machal already, i'm serving kravi in nachal and doing 14 months (passed the hebrew test and did not do the ulpan). i have a question that came up, and that so far for some reason i haven't been able to get a straight answer to - so maybe someone here knows?

do machal guys get a chofesh shichrur (chafshash), a vacation at the end of the soldier's service before his official release? i don't expect that i will get a full month like most soldiers do, but do machalniks get any chafshash at all? if so, how long?

thanks!

There is no IDF mandate to receive a Chufshat Shichrur, just a tradition of giving them. It is 100% subjective on your unit, your commanders and their relationship with you.

Please keep what Rafi said in mind, as you are an active-duty soldier until your actual shihrur. In most cases, though, the length of your chafshash will be commensurate to actual time served.

just in case anyone later on may be looking for information on this (i know i personally searched the forum for "chafshash" and came up empty), i recently got my official dates. i'm getting about 3 weeks of chafshash before my official release date. not sure if this is typical for machal volunteers, but it's what i'm getting.

cheers!

Yes, this is typical. Thanks for sharing the updated information, though! And, of course, thanks for your service and good luck.

If I remember correctly, I got around 1 week of chafshash and I did 14 months of service.
