28 but wanting to serve

I am 28 but want to serve. I have prior american military experience and college education.

Is there anyway I can still serve?

If in theory a war with Iran does break out (lets hope not, but if) would Israel need volunteer more than usual and if so what are policies for situations such as that? I ask since I read somewhere that in 1948 they let basicly anyone who was willing to fight come fight.

At this point, it is not possible as a non-Israeli to serve in the IDF after you have turned 24. Please read the following note from the main website:

As mentioned there, though, if you really want to serve in the IDF, you can make aliyah if you are eligible as per the Law of Return.

I am non jewish. I just feel a calling. What should some one in that situation do?

Unfortunately, there is no way that you can serve directly in the IDF if you are not an Israeli citizen and not Jewish. Here is the statement from the owner of the website, Daniel Katz, regarding this issue:
