Blood preassure& fitness test

Postby aspielberg » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:58 pm

Does anyone know what the acceptable blood pressure range is for the health profile? Mine has always been a little high (132/80), but not out of the ordinary.

Also when exactly is the fitness test given in basic training? twords the beginning or the end?

That blood pressure level would not exclude you from serving in the IDF.

You will need medical tests in your country of origin, with a signed and notarized medical report from your doctor.

Once you report to basic training you will receive another medical exam.

The fitness test is given multiple times. The minimum is not very difficult to attain, and if you don't manage to make it (some don't, don't worry), your command staff and fellow soldiers will work to make sure you can. If you can do the 75 pushups, 86 sit-ups, and 6:42 2km run (a perfect score in all 3) before you start your service, though, you'll find that it's better than letting yourself fall nearer the end of the bell curve from the start.

In Mik/Alon, you do the test 3 times, start-mid-end. I know someone who came in 63rd on the running test, did 11 pushups, and 16 situps, and "passed". The goal on the test is really to show you can get better over time, not to kill yourself doing pushups.

If someone did 15 pushups on the first test, and could do 35 on the second test, thats a lot better than someone who did 40 on the first test and 38 on the second test.

I'm currently at Michve Alon, and we just finished the second fitness test. I also saw the scores for one entire machlaka. And I can definitely verify that many people are far from reaching the 75 pushups, 86 situps standard (after the second test). Some people definitely meet it, but many don't. Our commanders say that in kravi you start out at the bottom and they gradually build you up. As for the ramifications at Michve Alon: nothing. They encourage you to complete the test and do your best (lots of people don't even do it), but it doesn't seem to matter how you do. Private message me if you have more questions.
