Best time to buy flight ticket to Israel

Postby jesterov » Tue Jan 12, 2010 7:30 pm

Hello. Does anyone know when the best time to buy tickets to Israel is? My plan is to arrive in late October.

Is there a certain time frame, like 3 months in advance, or anything else, that any frequent travelers have noticed tends to result in cheaper airplane tickets?

The question is a two part one.

First, when is the best time to fly to Israel, and the other, when is the best time to buy the ticket.

You want to plan to fly shortly after peak season. What is peak? The High Holidays, Sukkot, Passover and the summer.

If you want to look for a good time for late October, look for a bout 10 days after the end of Simhat Torah. As to when to purchase, the claim is that Tuesday evenings and Wednesday evenings are the traditional lowest costs on a cyclical basis. The further out you buy a ticket, the cheaper it will be.

Hi Jesterov, I am also looking to fly out to Israel in October and my dates are pretty flexible. Do you have any advice for me based on your travels? I would appreciate any tips you have for me on getting the cheapest flight possible, as I have never traveled there before. I will be traveling from Las Vegas because I am going to see some Las Vegas Shows and go on Tours Las Vegas before I head out to Israel. Any info would be great. Thanks!

When buying a ticket anywhere, the best advice is to start looking at least 2 months in advance and to check different websites. I like to use mobissimo.com which compares airfares on different airlines between different websites. You can also use Bing's airfare Price Predictor which will suggest whether it's best to buy now or to wait. The site is here: http://www.bing.com/travel/flights. Then, on top of that, you should check out regular sites like expedia.com, orbitz.com, etc.

There's no real secret. Just be sure to do your homework!
