I don't know your background. If your hebrew is good enough, if you pass the screening and if a commander were to recommend you for the unit based on your track record in the unit, you would then be required to sign for additional time.

This is not something that is a check off box in basic training.

the way it works is that after 7 months of training you are placed in maslul which is shmirot and operations, this is for about three months then everybody is divided in to three plugot mivtzait palchod or misayet. Mivtzait does the bulk of the operations palchod however is the first ones in, misayet carries the heavy weapons like artillery. So after maslul ull automatically be placed in one of these three plugot
